## Job Description
The position of Materials Manager is responsible for enabling Jack Link's to run purchasing, expediting, and inventory control functions efficiently. Leaders of this caliber are expected to be hands-on, technical, and a valuable contributor to the successful management of our internal processes, products and services. This role is critical to the success of Jack Link's product supply chain activities in delivering improved service at a more efficient cost and reducing working capital.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage purchasing, expediting, and inventory control functions
Coordinate across Inventory Managers and site procurement staff to ensure standardization of processes across all locations
Report to Sr. Director of Materials Management/Strategic Procurement on individual site performance
Identify process gaps and drive continuous improvement
Work with supply chain and sales leadership to drive disposition of aged inventory
Report KPIs around vendor performance and aged inventory
Apply decision making approval to purchases that have a large impact on warehouse capacity
Interface directly with leaders across the Jack Link's functions such Sales, Commercialization, Planning, Customer Service, Continuous Improvement Team, and the Corporate Leadership Team
Responsible to manage, forecast, and track all packaging, ingredient, and ensures inventories at production facilities and suppliers are adequate to meet forecast needs
Assure all suppliers meet company requirements for quality and service and resolve any non-compliance issues
Position ensures materials are forecasted and tracked to ensure lowest cost at each production center as well as minimizing write-offs of obsolete materials
Responsible for ensuring materials run at the highest efficiency possible at production centers as well as ensuring vendors offer innovative support to increase efficiency levels
Responsible for material compliance with specifications to ensure contractual agreements are adhered to
Resolve supplier quality and service issues and prevent the use of materials that are non-compliant to company standards
LEADERSHIP
Supervise direct reports to ensure requirements and measures of performance of those positions are met
Interview, hire and manage quality supply chain staff
Provides continuous feedback to employees regarding their job performance
Counsel's employee's on work performance-related issues and determines appropriate corrective action in accordance with company policy and procedures
Develop and maintain a positive, motivated work team. Be a model on meeting customer needs (internal and external)
Train and orient new/existing employees to ensure they understand their jobs and Jack Link's policies
Enforce company policies and take corrective action when needed
Fully support Lean Manufacturing principles in Jack Link's operations
## Job Requirements
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in business, supply chain
or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
APICS or equivalent Supply Chain certification preferred
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
6
years of experience in executing, managing or leading materials management in a similar role
Manufacturing experience required along with deep knowledge of SAP
Strong working knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles
Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts
Strong interpersonal skills essential to effectively interact with and create shared goals with all functional areas and levels involved in the demand planning process
Advanced level of proficiency in Excel
Must have a solid understanding of commercial forecasting and the importance of business forecasting
Must have strong understanding and experience of demand management principals and processes coupled with end to end supply chain operational processes
Experience introducing/working with supply chain solutions, software and systems is beneficial
Ability to work in a team oriented environment that is fast paced and demanding
Demonstrated ability to influence in cross-functional situations
Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy
Track record of developing and implementing change which positively impacts company performance
